Remote Online Notary · /ron

Sign from anywhere. A Florida-commissioned notary on camera.

Remote Online Notary (RON) is the audio-video alternative to an in-person signing that Florida has authorized — a one-on-one session on a state-approved platform, with credential analysis and a four-question KBA quiz. Ernest runs the same journal entry and audio-video log the State of Florida requires, then signs the document on screen.

Section 01 · What RON is in Florida

A state-authorized audio-video signing. Not a video call.

Florida authorizes RON for most acknowledgements and jurats — but a real-estate rider or a lender-side disclosure can still demand a wet-ink signing. The map of what is and isn't eligible is decided before the session is locked in.

Florida framework

What RON is — and where it still doesn't apply
Two-syllable summary: RON is a notarization done on a state-approved audio-video platform, with a credential analysis and a KBA quiz. The signer never has to share a room with the notary — but the law still binds them to a journal entry and an audio-video log.
  • Florida allows RON for most acknowledgements and jurats, but lender- or title-side riders can still demand wet ink — a quick check up front saves a wasted session.
  • Most state-approved RON platforms need a current government-issued photo ID (driver license, passport or state ID), a working camera and a reliable internet connection.
  • A four-question KBA quiz has to be passed before the signing starts — attempts and answers are part of the recorded audio-video log.
  • For multi-signer packages, every signer still completes KBA and credential analysis on their own device — no shared screen.
  • When in doubt about eligibility — a unique document, a specific lender, an out-of-state signer — the answer is usually back from Ernest within an hour of an email.

Per-session fee

$35 / session

Single flat per-session fee per signer. RON platform subscription is on me — you only pay the per-session notary fee quoted in writing.

If a lender has a specific platform — Notarize, DocVerify, Nexsys — bring the rider or the email and Ernest will quote against that platform. Multi-signer files are quoted per signer, with each signer running the KBA and credential analysis on their own device.

Section 02 · Identity proofing · KBA + credential

Two identity gates. Then the signing starts.

A knowledge-based authentication (KBA) quiz and a credential analysis of a government-issued photo ID — both required by Florida, both recorded in the audio-video log, both gating the start of the signing.

  1. Step · 01
    Knowledge-based authentication (KBA)

A four-question multiple-choice quiz pulled from public-data sources (Equifax, LexisNexis and similar). Signers have five minutes to answer and need roughly seventy percent to pass — a fast gate that catches a stolen identity at the door of the session.

  2. Step · 02
    Credential analysis

A live, line-by-line review of a government-issued photo ID against the signer on camera — name, photo, expiration date and any security features. A liveness cue is taken during the audio-video session, and a journal entry is recorded for the notary record Florida requires.

  3. Step · 03
    Required by FL
Notary journal entry + audio-video log

Every RON session produces a journal entry and a recorded audio-video log that the State of Florida requires. The log is the durable proof the signing happened the way the law says it has to, and it is what a signer or lender can request later if the document is ever disputed.

Section 03 · Platforms Ernest supports

Whichever platform the file needs — the subscription is on me.

Notarize and DocVerify are the most-requested. When the lender, the title company or the document asks for a third-party platform, Ernest books time on it. Platform fee is covered on the per-session quote.

Platform · 01
General-purpose
Notarize
Ernest's common pick for general-purpose RON — acknowledgements, jurats and most lender-side signings that allow RON end-to-end on the platform.

Platform fee on me. Per-session quote covers only the notary fee — $35 base for RON, plus any travel / coordination on top.

Platform · 02
Lender / title routed
DocVerify
A long-standing RON platform that some title companies and lender-side teams request. Ernest books time on it when the document or the file is set up there.

Platform fee on me. Per-session quote covers only the notary fee — $35 base for RON, plus any travel / coordination on top.

Platform · 03
Whichever the file needs
Platform-agnostic
Ernest uses whichever RON platform the lender, title company or document requires — Notarize, DocVerify, Nexsys, or a less common one. The RON-platform subscription is on him; the per-session fee is the only line item on the quote.

Platform fee on me. Per-session quote covers only the notary fee — $35 base for RON, plus any travel / coordination on top.

Platform names reference the public RON providers trusted across lender / title side workflows; Ernest books whichever the file requires, including less-common platforms not listed here.

Section 04 · Who RON is right for

Four signers RON was made for.

Out-of-state signers, mobility-limited clients, time-sensitive closings, and immovable / travel-bound signers — the four lanes Florida created RON to serve.

Persona · 01
Snowbirds · traveling
Out-of-state signers

Snowbirds who winter in Florida but whose paperwork is filed up north. Deployed military, traveling professionals and anyone whose signing has to happen away from the Space Coast. RON keeps them off a plane and on the document.

Right fit? Send the document type and a one-line note about the signer to reliable-notary@polsia.app — reply the same business day.

Persona · 02
Bedside · at home
Mobility-limited clients

A senior at home, a post-surgery recovery, a hospital discharge or a hospice-room signing. RON lets the people who physically cannot get to a kitchen table still sign with a credentialed notary on camera.

Right fit? Send the document type and a one-line note about the signer to reliable-notary@polsia.app — reply the same business day.

Persona · 03
Same-day · lender pressure
Time-sensitive closings

A same-day refinance or a wire-and-document window the lender set for the morning. RON collapses the travel time to a video link, so a closing that would have been a same-day scramble becomes a same-hour scheduling window.

Right fit? Send the document type and a one-line note about the signer to reliable-notary@polsia.app — reply the same business day.

Persona · 04
Road · family · caregiver
Travel / immovable signers

A signer whose job or family keeps them in motion — a trucker on the road, a parent with young kids, a caregiver who cannot leave the person they look after. RON meets them on a phone, a laptop, or a kitchen tablet.

Right fit? Send the document type and a one-line note about the signer to reliable-notary@polsia.app — reply the same business day.

Ready when you are

Send the document. Pick a window. I'll meet you on camera.

Send the document type, the platform the lender or title company set up (Notarize, DocVerify, or whichever), and a preferred window — Ernest replies the same business day with a written quote (per-session fee + any coordination on top) and a slot you can confirm by reply.
